We have almost 500 students in our band program district wide. Our schools include:
A&M Consolidated High School (AMCHS),
A&M Consolidated Middle School (AMCMS), College Station Middle School (CSMS),
Oakwood Intermediate and Cypress Grove Intermediate.

Important Updates

$120 Assessment Fee (required of all band students)

Like most students, I'm sure this isn't easy to pay out of pocket. That's why the Boosters have organized fundraisers to help students work for this money and not have to pay out of pocket.
Our biggest fundraiser is the sale of Aggie Flag subscriptions. For a fee, band students will place Aggie Flags on home game day at locations around College Station. The students will receive $4 for each sale, and have the option of delivering flags on game day for more.
Flag routes will be assigned closer to game day after sales have been posted. To have a flag for the first game, forms and payment must be in by August 20.
Renewals for last year's flags have been sent out and are arriving daily in the PO Box. See here for a more detailed information form for you and your customers. Happy sales!
The supplier, Totes Unlimited, had informed us that they will only by on campus for one day - Tuesday, August 3rd, from 12:30 until they are done.
Required items to be ordered from Totes:
1. Black Viper shoes - $39.50 (Shoes will be available for try on)
2. Black long wristed sure grip gloves - $3.75 (Order more than one pair in case of loss)
3. Khaki shorts - already covered in assessment fee - EVERYONE needs to try on the sample pairs and order their size. You also need to give you size for the Band Tshirt.
(Instead of wearing the hot uniforms in the early games when it's over 100 degrees, we will be wearing the khaki shorts and band shirt)
Optional Item for holding clothes, and uniform parts:
Maroon #261 Tote bag - w/emblem only - $32.00 w/emblem and initials (3) - $37.50 w/emblem and 1st or last name - $38.50
These are the total prices and already include shipping.
Parent volunteer opportunity:
Totes would like a parent or two to help make the process go a lot faster and smoother. Please let me know if you are available to help from 12-on.
In summary, you should bring 3 checks on Tuesday for these items if needed:
1. Totes Unlimited - for shoes, gloves, tote bag
2. Tiger Band - $30 installment of assessment fee (or the $120 required total)
3. (Possibly Thorn Music) - for lyres, flip folders, reeds, etc

Calendar Reminders (Look under "Events" for more times)
**ALL BAND begins practice this Monday, August 2 at 8:00 am. "If you are early, you are on time. If you are on time, you are late." Come prepared with instruments, tennis shoes, water bottles, sunscreen, hat, Handbook pages signed by a parent if not turned in in May. (see downloads)
**First Installment of Assessment Fee Due - Monday, August 9, $30, (Or pay the total of $120) Make checks payable to Tiger Band and give to Mr. Rowden. If you wish to have this transferred from your fundraising account, please fill out a transfer form and turn it in to the maroon mailbox in the band hall.
**FRESHMEN AND JUNIORS: Required UIL Physical Form must be completed by a physician and returned to the directors. This can be done at your doctor or a walk-in clinic in the area. Find form under downloads.
** Parents - want to order a yard note or a band polo? See downloads for order forms.
***Volunteer opportunity - We need parents available this week and next to help measure and fit our students with uniforms. If you are available, please contact Carie Garrett at cariegarrett@suddenlink.net.
Chaperones for football games - please let Jennifer know if you are available, and for which away games (we don't need chaperones for home games). A background check MUST be on file. Be sure you have completed the volunteer form in the handbook and have turned it in to the directors at least a week before the first away game. This must be completed every year.
Chicago Trip cost information
Scheduled for March 9-13, 2011.
If we travel via charter bus, the cost is $940 per student based on 150 students attending--lower cost if more attend.
If we travel via air plane--$1,115.00 fixed price per student --- If we use air, we must send in a $100 non refundable deposit to the airlines no later than the second week of June.
So, we need a verbal (e-mail) commitment to jopielamiksch@gmail.com and then either a non refundable $25.00 deposit for buses, or $100 for plane. Do not send a deposit at this time, just a verbal committment as to whether your band student is planning on attending this trip.
Funds for this trip can be raised in several fund raisers this semester, beginning with Aggie Flags this summer (see web page for more info on selling and delivering flags)Keep in mind, these costs are in addition to the REQUIRED assessment fee of $120. Please see handbook for more information on this fee.

The family has also asked that donations be made to the High School Band and Colorguard programs in lieu of flowers. The Boosters will be setting up a scholarship in his memory. If you would like to make a contribution, please make note in the memo line of your check and mail it to:

Muldoon's is offering to donate 10% of all sales between 7-9 pm each Thursday night through May 2011. They are located between Spoon's and Los Cucos on Texas Avenue. Stop by and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea!
